Throwback Thursday : Special Edition

If you were following our FB page this summer, you may remember a series we did highlighting a notorious Nightwatchman for the DPD back in the early 1910s. The one-armed Irishman, T.B. McDonough, was known for his tenacity and hard work keeping the streets of Dickinson safe in the early years of the city.

Thanks to ancestry.com and the modern marvel of social media, we were able to locate and contact a family member of McDonough's in California. And as luck would have it, they graciously sent us a portrait of him! They also had pictures of his badge, handcuffs, and prosthetic tool.

With the help of Stevenson Funeral Home, the Dickinson Police Association also "adopted" McDonough's unmarked gravesite in St. Patrick's Cemetery and placed a headstone there this past week.

In case you missed the blog series, feel free to catch up at;
