*CRIME ALERT*

Night shift is reporting several incidents of stolen vehicles last night within Dickinson. We are currently investigating the cases, but preliminary indications are the stolen vehicles were UNLOCKED and keys were in the ignition.

Hot-wiring, key shaving, and punching-out ignition columns are pretty MacGyver ways to steal a vehicle, and increasingly harder with newer car models. The overwhelming majority of stolen vehicles happen with unlocked doors and keys in the ignition. It makes stealing so easy, a caveman could do it. Don't let cavemen steal your vehicles, lock and secure them!

If that's still not enough reason, consider that some insurance companies will not honor a claim if the vehicle owner neglected to remove keys from the vehicle and it was stolen as a result!
