Earlier today, the DPD recovered a .22 caliber handgun found in a snowbank on the east side of 6th St West near the intersection of 11th Ave West. The gun is believed to have been buried in the snow for quite sometime judging by its corroded condition; it was recently revealed after the significant snow melt. It is not known when or actually where the gun may have been dropped or lost as it could have been moved about during snow removal activities in the area.

If you have any information regarding the ownership of the handgun, please contact dispatch at 701-456-7759.

There has been widespread reports of counterfeit currency, mostly $20 bills, being distributed at various businesses in Dickinson and Stark County over the past week. Today, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Dickinson Police Detectives executed a search warrant on a residence located in the 10 block of 3rd St SW in relation this case. The search warrant revealed an active counterfeiting operation with over $2,600 in counterfeit bills in various stages of production. The continued investigation by the Dickinson Police Department into this case ultimately lead to the arrest of 19yoa Cole Higgins and 22yoa Kristopher Hogue (both of Dickinson). Higgins and Hogue are currently being housed at the South West Multi County Correctional Center on charges of B Felony Facilitation of Counterfeiting.

The Dickinson Police Departments believes thousands of dollars in counterfeit currency has been distributed in the area. Any business who has not already reported receiving counterfeit currency to authorities and suspects they may have been victimized or anyone who may have information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Dickinson Police Department at 701-456-7759.
